SOUTHWEST FLORIDA IS BLOWN AWAY; HURRICANE IAN

COMMUNITY EFFECTS

As of October 20, in Lee County alone, over 5,000 homes have been destroyed, and 13,000 have significant damage to their property. In our division, I would say that 98% of 710 homes were damaged. Some homes, like the one twelve feet away from us, were destroyed. Needless to say, there will be a housing crisis for months to come as over 5,000 families are trying to find a new place to live.

Winkler Road Baptist Church sustained flood and wind damage itself. We can come up with fifteen church families with significant damage or lost their homes and vehicles completely. The office complex and parsonage had the most damage on our church property.

Around ten sister churches around Southwest Florida have damage in the hundreds of thousands of dollars.

PERSONAL EFFECTS

We praise the Lord that our home sustained damage from the wind and received no storm surge or water damage. We stayed in our house during the storm with Una’s parents and sister. We were without electricity for thirteen days and had no water for five of those days. Our home and car did receive damage from the storm. We are waiting to hear back from our insurance companies and FEMA to know what we will be able to afford to fix. The first quote on part of the house came in at $29,016. There will be more costs to come.

We are VERY thankful that someone loaned us a generator to power up some of our home (no air conditioning). Someone from church came over to hook the generator to our electric panel. It wasn’t easy sleeping at night when the inside temperature would get up to 88 degrees. We did lose our refrigerator; it stopped cooling altogether. We were able to purchase the last white Whirlpool fridge in the warehouse. That was a simple blessing, but it was a blessing!

MINISTRY EFFECTS

We were shut down for thirteen days since we didn’t have electricity. Once up, the internet grid was damaged and had limited service. Our land phone was also down. We could take a few cell phone calls, but we would often be cut off.

We use several print services throughout Florida, and the storm winds or flooding impacted almost every one. Paper stocks were limited before; now, what was in stock has been damaged by flood waters.

We are doing so well regarding 85% of our printing needs because we can print outside of the state. Did you know that we also print in Arizona, California, New Jersey, North Carolina, Ohio, Texas, Washington, and Ontario, Canada?

God has blessed. We have been spared from the worst of the storm. Even though we have been hit financially, we rejoice in His provision.

KEEPING ETERNITY IN RE-VIEW (October)

How are you doing with your book? We started January 2022 with a challenge; to look at our lives as a book that contains 12 chapters with 365 pages. I am taking the challenge myself. Let’s review some of the October topics that I have chosen to be in my book:

PRINTING MINISTRY:

• Printing projects for churches/ministries (11) or individuals/businesses (4)

  • Churches/ministries: 14,002 pieces (2 Banners)
  • Little Messages / CMS Quality Tracts printed = 19,500 pieces
  • Individuals/businesses: 1,000 pieces
  • TOTAL for October = 34,502 pieces

• EDDM mailings (1) 7,500 total pieces were sent to homes and businesses

• Direct mailing pieces = 0000 pieces

CMS DONATIONS:

During October, we donated our time to help:

  • Redesign banners for Southwood Baptist Church in Tallahassee
  • As a supporting church, we gave Southwood a discount on printing
  • We helped design a brochure and tract for a new church in PA
  • Helped create a Little Message tract for another church in PA

After the above tasks were approved, we printed all of their projects.

BRAND NEW MINISTRY: Faithful Life Club

FAITHFUL LIFE CLUB has launched. We have materials (teacher’s manuals, student handbooks, flannelgraph materials, and flashcards) prepared for the first quarter. Would you like to see a BRIEF INTRODUCTION for your church? Contact us ASAP.

FAITHFUL LIFE PUBLISHERS

Celebrating TWENTY years in the publishing ministry!!!

GLOBAL BOOK SALES IN OCTOBER: Australia, Canada, Denmark, France, India, Italy, Germany, Great Britain, Poland, Singapore, & the United States.

We kept up with all new book orders, graphic design, eBook conversions, and printing projects. Editing is progressing, with a new book coming out in November. It was supposed to come out in October, but the storm delayed its progress.

Since Hurricane Ian, we have EIGHT new book titles that came in for us to publish. We already had FIVE books that we are trying to knock out.

OCTOBER NEW BOOK RELEASE: Las Costumbres de Nuestros Padres paperback and eBook editions (Spanish title) by Pastor Michael McCubbins, 380 pages. The English version, The Customs of Our Fathers, came out in May. Both titles are available on Amazon and other websites globally.

AMAZON RIVER BASIN OUTREACH

In the newsletter we showed a picture showing someone reading one of our tracts that was translated into Portuguese. Six people were saved this day in Manaus with lots of prayer for people!

RIO DA ILHA VILLAGE

The trip from Santarem to the village of Rio da Ilha was a blessing to over 100 people. Many received medical and dental care, medicine, hygiene kits, and food bags. There was also children’s ministry time; others received personal home visits.

Through this humanitarian outreach, 15 people invited Christ into their lives and now have eternal life in Him!

Thank you for your prayers and financial support for the operation and ministry of the Ice Boat. Praise the Lord for how God is using this ministry to see many accepting Christ into their lives. Love gifts coming into us earmarked for the ICE BOAT will be happily given to them.

SEA HOPE ministry report

Thank you for your prayers and financial support for the operation and ministry of Sea Hope. Praise the Lord for how God is using this ministry to see many accepting Christ into their lives. Love gifts coming into us earmarked for Sea Hope will be happily given to them.

Your donations will help with the following:

We need your financial help to reach these expanded ministry goals. As we are able, CMS provides FREE:

  • MISSIONARY PRAYER CARDS (for those whom we know)
  • TRACTS to new Baptist church plants in the United States
  • EDDM MAILING donations for new Baptist church plants
  • CMS DIRECT MAILING donations for new Baptist church plants
  • TRACTS for two missionary endeavors ministering to the islands of the Caribbean and the coastal regions of Latin America (in Spanish and English) and another along the Amazon River Basin (in Portuguese)
  • Help smaller churches launch the Faithful Life Club program by donating to the FLC Foundation (any gift will help).

We freely provide these ministry tools as we are financially able. We would have done more in October, but we didn’t have the necessary funds. Your financial support is needed and deeply appreciated.
